Weather Situation
A high pressure system is located in the Tasman Sea, while a cold front
approaching Tasmania will weaken and slip away to the southeast today. A
stronger cold front will move across western and central Bass Strait during
Wednesday and then stall with a broad low pressure system developing over
northern Victoria on Thursday. The low will move southeast and intensify just
east of Gippsland later Friday.
Forecast for Tuesday 22 May until midnight
Winds: North to northwesterly 20 to 30 knots becoming easing to 20 to 25 knots
in the middle of the day. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres.
Forecast for Wednesday 23 May
Winds: Northwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending northerly 15 to 25 knots during the
morning then turning westerly 15 to 20 knots during the evening. Seas: 0.5 to
1.5 metres.
Forecast for Thursday 24 May
Winds: West to northwesterly around 10 knots turning southerly in the afternoon
and southeasterly up to 10 knots at night. Seas: Below 0.5 metres.
Forecast for Friday 25 May
Winds: South to southeasterly 5 to 15 knots becoming southerly up to 30 knots
during the morning. Seas: Below 0.5 metres increasing to 2 metres during the
morning.
